Workable is...
Collaborative, exciting, and transparent.
- Jamie DePaolo

Where were you born?

Boston, MA.

Describe yourself in three words:

Social, motivated, organized.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

A nurse. Little did I know then, I hate the sight of blood and faint having even my own drawn.

What do you feel strongly about?

Family values; I adore my parents, younger brother and sister.

What was your first job?

I worked as a research assistant in a sleep lab at Brigham & Women’s hospital in Boston. The overnight shifts were challenging as I love my sleep, haha!

What do you do for fun - outside of work?

I love to workout. I also spend a lot of time with my puppy, Chloe.

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

Riding ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) and going very fast through the woods in Bucksport, ME, late one night. I was with a few friends and it was totally dark except for the glow from the small headlights; we could only see a few feet in front of us.

Who or what makes you laugh?

My dad.

What’s your favorite food?

What’s your role at Workable?

I manage our existing customer base on monthly and annual plans. Based on my conversation, I help determine whether or not they’re on the best plan for their hiring needs. I also demo any new features and answer any specific feature questions they may have. I enjoy working with different people and learning about their recruiting process. I get a buzz from knowing I’m helping them reach a solution which future-proofs their hiring process.

Describe your team:

The team of Account Managers here in Boston and over in Athens is a pretty new team. Our goal is to do what’s best for the customer. Given Workable’s global presence, we work together to put our customers in touch with whoever it makes most sense for them to speak with. We’re focused on finding an arrangement that’s most convenient for them.

Workable helps so many different companies hire, which means I get to speak with lots of interesting and varied people. It’s great. The collaboration in my team is impressive, we all work well together and everyone is willing to help each other out.

When did you join Workable?

January 17th, 2017.

Describe your first day:

The day FLEW by so quick! I was introduced to everyone and shown around the office. My first day was well planned out. In fact, the whole of my first two weeks were nicely organized. There were different meetings scheduled in to help me to set myself up, meet my team and learn everything I needed to know - and then some! I was excited then and I still get excited every day because I’m working with a great product and on an awesome team.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

My team and speaking to our customers. Workable helps so many different companies hire, which means I get to speak with lots of interesting and varied people and companies. It’s great.

What or who can you see from your desk?

I sit across from the Support team - SO helpful!!! If I’ve got any questions I can just call across the desk. They’re a massive help.

What’s on your desk?

Lots of Post-Its! There’s always water and/or a coffee.

What’s the highlight of your working day?

Messages on company channels within Slack - everyone at Workable has such great personalities and we have all really started to bond, not to mention how much I learn from everyone on a daily basis. The collaboration in my team is impressive, we all work well together and everyone is willing to help each other out. It’s awesome to work so closely with my colleagues in Athens too.

What have you learned since joining Workable?

What haven’t I learned!!! One thing in particular is learning a whole new industry, as my background is in the healthcare/pharmaceutical space.”

What training have you done since joining Workable and how did it impact your work?

When I started, there was training in every aspect of Workable. My team is constantly doing continued training as well. Our Sales Management brought in SaleFish for Sandler Training recently. This training was helpful in evaluating how you interact with customers and gear your conversations towards them and their needs.

What benefits of working for Workable do you most appreciate?

The company has lots of benefits, it would be hard to pick one. To sum it up, it’s very apparent Workable appreciates the employees here.

Who in the company has had the most influence on you and why?

With her background in sales and her energy Rachel, VP of Sales has been such a positive influence. There are many successful women at Workable, but working closely with Rachel, I know I will learn so much from her in particular. It’s apparent that she’s constantly thinking 10 steps ahead and always has a plan.

The best thing about Workable?

Definitely the people and the company values.

Personal achievements, professional successes, first jobs and favorite foods, get to know some of our other Workablers (and Workable) a little better.

I have to mention Andrew, the manager of Customer Success. He was patient while I was still learning a lot of simple things that others may have known coming right in. I was given time to get some really thorough training, which made all the difference.

We did a lot of Sandler sales training both in Boston and in Athens and I’ve adopted a lot of their techniques as a result. It’s really helped my sales process.
